Why: A longtime art student, Katy took private art lessons since she was 10 years old. She graduated from GSU in 1977 with a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts. After graduating, she competed in juried art shows in the Atlanta area and Florida, and worked doing commissioned pieces for clients such as HBO and the Prudential Life Insurance headquarters in Atlanta.
When Katy moved to the Fayetteville area with her husband and son in 1987, artwork took the back seat to raising her son, promoting scouting, and volunteering at her son’s various schools. With a need to learn and expand, she put her hand to learning the arts of stained glass, weaving, and sewing. Her current passions are jewelry and knitting.
